At 1500 m there is just enough snow to get down with a stone slalom. Further up, the snow cover increases rapidly and from 2000 m there is still about 80 cm left. In hollows there is sometimes more due to the fresh drift snow.

Snow quality

Very damp at the bottom towards the afternoon and very irregular snow cover at the top, marked by the wind. A few turns are possible, but then mostly in steeper hollows filled with drift snow. Otherwise hard cover and windswept turns. Anything but ideal.

Risks

Not to be underestimated in steep alpine terrain. The wind has done a good job over the last few days and has picked up considerably today. There are some fresh drift snow packs, but they are easy to recognize. A small profile and sliding block test confirm this impression.

Beautiful day of touring in the Belledonne despite below-average snow conditions.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
