Descent to valley (to 1400 m)
Descent through forest
Stone Contact avoidable

Good enough. Above 1500m it is safely skiable. Still a hike up ther is mandatory and I cannot imagine a season filling the forest for a pure ski ascent.

Snow quality

Wet snow
Firn
Jelly snow

In the Canalone: Firn and Slush sliding and wet sluff surfing at its best. In the open terrain, slow but smooth and fun. In the lower canalone, straightlining and trying to save the skis.

Risks

Crevasse or fall danger
Diurnal warming
Much water in the snow cover

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

The snowpack felt stable, and a quick snow profile gave confirmation. Still, the steepness of the couloir, in the upper part permanently above 40 Degrees, it gives you sensations of sketch. In the end we would have been better off skinning on skis right after exiting the couloir than continuing to hike the waist deep wet snow and cscramble loose boulders.

La Vigolana. You watch that mountain from Trento's terraces, it's silhoutte is a beauty and it's rock faces are recgonizable. Still you would not expect to enter an adventure such deep. The ravange and bootpacks are an exquisit challenge to any ski alpinist. The couloir is partly steeper than 45 Degrees. Finding good conditions though, as always, is key. We were a bit late in the season, though in respect to other seasons we were early. The bootpack in the upper part had gotten just a bit too deep. Also the firn was rather slush, and grip was limited in the steep parts. Still, we descended safely, and had an intense time in the clouds and in the sun, so close to home. With Silvia and Zonny.
