Exposition
Snow condition
The amount of fresh snow refers to the fluffy powder on top, the total amount of snow from the precipitation period was probably a meter. Unfortunately, only a part of it remained on the ridge and you have to reckon with stone contact again and again.
Video
Snow quality
Deep cold powder, 5 stars in places, sometimes a bit windy, but still great to ride.
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Very tense avalanche situation. Several remotely triggered snow slabs in the east exposure. Must be a pronounced weak layer in there, as the avalanches spread across pockets of terrain and also triggered secondary avalanches. One board was large and a search operation was underway. It looked to us as if it wasn't certain whether anyone was inside. In any case, read the bulletin carefully and be cautious when traveling.
Avalanche activity
Dry slab avalanche (medium)
Altitude: 2500 m
Overall impression
Super blubird powder day with face shots right to the end. It doesn't matter if you spend the whole day in moderate terrain. That was our plan anyway and we chose sector south, but we were still surprised by how pronounced the weak layer was on the east side.
