there is still pow ...

Snow condition
another tour today in the lech valley, in the kelmen area. no fresh snow!!! from kelmen, approx. 20cm of old snow on the surface. just enough in the forest for ascent and descent. getting less. above the edge of the forest in expo s, hardened, hard cover, unpleasant for walking and skiing. all other expos are still (more or less broken) pow. in the summit area, partly heavily blown off. the northern flank of the engelspitze (picture 3) certainly makes no sense.
Snow quality
he who seeks shall find. there are still few, if any, rutted areas. in expo north there is still good, settled pow. south side not groomed today.
Risks
the tyrolean 1er was fully o.k. today, too cold for increased gliding snow activities (but there are still enough mouths in all hangexpos), no fresh snow and also no fresh drift snow, above the timberline. we were out in the 40° range today and found a very stable snow cover.
Overall impression
better than expected. there is still untracked pow. it's slowly getting spring on the south side, but not today without sunshine. free choice of lines possible above the forest line. no shark caught. the descent, in the forest, is getting rockier and rockier and the little snow will soon be scraped off or totally icy. fresh snow is urgently needed. therefore just another 3, especially for the nice and unexpected pow in the couli.
