Snow condition
Absoult sufficient, from the valley floor. Skis could be strapped on at the PP today. Free choice of tracks is possible on the ascent and descent, if you are up to it in the current conditions!!!
Snow quality
Today it didn't even snow up on the south side in the summit area. The 3cm of fresh snow on the snow-covered snowpack didn't help much. It's currently as hard as a rock on all slope exposures, but on the 2nd summit, some of the slopes, especially at lower altitudes, are a bit firned up in sections on very steep SW flanks. It was fun there ...
Risks
A solid one today in the Berwang area. At altitudes below 2000m, sliding snow is and remains an issue (see picture). Not all gliding snow chutes have already gone down.
Overall impression
Three stars because the weather was so sensational today and a few turns were still possible in the firn.
Good steel edges and a clean technique are required. Falling is forbidden. Let's see how it turns out tomorrow ...
