Snow report Les Trois Vallees, 01/17/2016
Second day in La Clusaz
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
You can tell that La Clusaz is only around 1,000 meters above sea level and that there was virtually no base here before the intense snowfall. You still need to be careful of snow-covered heather fences and stones, as some of the ridges have been blown clear by the intense wind.
Snow quality
Fluffy powder on the shaft side, where the wind was it feels heavier. Especially fun in areas protected from the wind.
Risks
The fresh snow is virtually unconnected to the old snow, so avalanches in steeper terrain are very likely even under low loads. The bulletin warns of sliding snow avalanches below 2,000 m. We were unable to observe any avalanches, but were also very cautious on the trail.
Overall impression
Unfortunately, it got hazier and hazier as the day went on, making riding less and less fun. But we had a few nice runs in the morning that weren't completely tracked yet.
