Snow report Les Trois Vallees, 02/26/2017
Kaiserwetter und Spotcheck in Val d'Isere
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
When you drive into the valley, you think you're going hiking up to les Arcs. In Tignes and Val d'Isere around 2000 m it looks better, but still poor for the time of year. Conditions on the slopes are ok as far as the valley. Off-piste there is still a great danger of sharks and the end of February is a tragedy
Snow quality
In the north sector still plowing up the powder quite nicely. It was really bad on the south side and it got soft quickly at the bottom due to the sun today
Risks
Old loose snow slides are snowed in. A more recent slab avalanche in the rocky area which was probably blown up. Same exposure as the avalanche accident here a few weeks ago, only slightly higher but similarly blown in.
Overall impression
Great weather, and a good opportunity to try out a few classics in Val d'Isere and Tignes in relatively safe conditions. Change in the weather from tomorrow, fresh snow, base in the larches is largely sufficient. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it won't be as windy as announced, then the week might be quite interesting
