Snow report Les Trois Vallees, 02/27/2017
Fresh snow in the west - poor visibility and wind
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
On top of the hard and modest layers* of the previous days, there was about 15 cm of fresh snow during the day. *More on this in Monday's CR from Val d'Isere/Tignes Watch out, south-facing below 2500m, little to no base at all
Snow quality
From 2600m dry powder snow, below that a little harder but good to ski. Rain below 1800m. At the top towards the afternoon, wind up to 80 km/h and therefore somewhat restricted
Risks
Today in the forest it was unproblematic. Near the ridge, where there was a lot of wind, it was certainly dangerous. Large patches of drifting snow and cornices formed in a short time. It's supposed to snow again tonight. Tomorrow I would take good care and first graze the lower slopes or stay in the forest
Overall impression
A few centimeters really make a difference. You've almost forgotten what powder feels like. Hopefully Mrs. Holle will let it rip again for the next few days. The forecasts look pretty good though and tomorrow could be a good Jour Poudreuse. Profitez!!!
