First forest ski tour in Courchevel in surprisingly good November conditions

Overall impression
Snow condition
Snow cover in Courchevel approx. 40 cm snowAb 2500 around 80 cmSnow conditions in the forest already surprisingly goodWith a reasonably good choice of route, contact with rocks can be avoided in any case. The snow cover provides a good basis for hopefully further snowfall
Snow quality
Changeable snow cover. Up to 2000m enough fresh snow to get down but quite difficult to ski. From 2200m it's quite dry, loose fresh snow but still quite sluggish to ski on, also due to the lack of a base for the most part. There is also drift snow on the lee side of some slopes.
Risks
LWS 3 prevailed in the region and there were warnings of large amounts of fresh snow and drifting due to strong winds. Locally, such drift snow packs and small cornices were often encountered and at higher altitudes and on steep slopes this certainly poses a serious risk. In the forest and meadow areas, however, it was mostly easy and safe to ski. There were also gliding snow mouths and small to medium slides in very steep terrain.
Overall impression
Good start to the season with powder that's not too bad for November, plus a free lift ticket in Courchevel and expensive beer in town. hopefully the good conditions will stay for a while and we can look forward to more snowfalls
