Snow condition

Though the stormy winds strongly affected the snow cover, the conditions are not bad and it is possible to find nice snow to ski.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne

The weather conditions strongly influenced the snow quality. Mainly above the treeline, the winds strongly affected the snow cover, the old snow and the snowfall of February the 4th and February the 5th were redistributed. Now the best off-piste conditions are, below the treeline, except for Southern slopes, and above the treeline, only on wind-sheltered slopes.

Risks

The main avalanche problem was related to wet snow avalanches, due to the warming and the rainfall. With snowfall and strong winds, of February the 4th and the 5th, the main avalanche problem was related to small and medium wind slabs. Above the treeline, within the snowpack, persistent weak layers are registered; in isolated cases, the avalanches could be triggered along these layers and increase their sizes. Regarding natural avalanches, we registered several wet snow avalanches, mainly on February the 3rd, and, after the snowfall and winds of February the 4th and 5th , few small and medium wind slab avalanches. We observed only one triggered wind slab avalanche.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

Above the treeline, the wind strongly affected the snow cover, but on wind-sheltered slopes, the snow is still nice to ski. Below the treeline too, it is possible to make nice off-piste runs, except on Southern slopes.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!

Thank you for your contribution to the PowderGuide project!
