Snow condition

Above the treeline, the snow surface is generally loose, only close to the ridges and on windward slopes the snow surface is hard. Below the treeline, the loose snow depth is lower and cover hard snow and, from West to East aspects, going through South, generally load-bearing meltfreeze crusts. On very steep Southern slopes, a thin melt-freeze crust formed on the snow surface. On isolated Northern slopes, within the middle part of the snow cover, persistent weak layers are recorded.

Probably it was one of the best skiing weeks of the year! The snow quality was fantastic. With the two snowfalls and the nice cold weather the snow surface was loose and really nice to ski all the week long and on oll the aspects. The best off-piste turns were above the treeline where the loose snow depth was higher than below the treeline.

Risks

We registered few avalanche activities, even though the snowfall. The new snow and the wind slabs were quickly consolidated to the old snow. Small-medium sizes natural avalanches were registered only during the snowfalls or shortly after. The wind slabs were easy to detect and to manage and the conditions were favorable to off-piste activities. The avalanche danger degree keep at 3-Considerable only on Friday the 15th and on Saturday the 16th and, only in the alpine, Monday 18th too. The rest of the week stays 2-Moderate, gradually decreasing to 1-Low.

A really nice ski week, with very good snow and super weather!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
