A lot of snow! But strongly wind affected...
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
The wind ruined the nice snow conditions, up to now the best powder skiing is below the tree line or, above the treeline, on wind-sheltered slopes.
Snow quality
The strong winds affected the snow quality and ruined the nice snow conditions. Now, the best off-piste conditions are below the treeline, where the snow surface is loose. Above the treeline, only on the wind-sheltered slopes, is possible to find nice off-piste skiing. Elsewhere, the snow is hard and strongly wind affected.
Risks
The winds effected the snowpack stability, above the tree line, unstable, medium sized, wind slabs formed. Within the snow cover, mainly above the treeline, persistent weak layers are registered; locally, the avalanches could be triggered along these layers. Depending on the situations, we have registered several natural avalanches. First, during the 20th December snowfall events, we have observed natural wet snow avalanches. The following days, the main natural avalanche activities was due to unstable, medium sized, wind slabs. We have reported some avalanches, triggered by the loading of a single person; in isolate cases, even remote triggering.
Overall impression
In general, the snow conditions are good, the snow cover is higher than the seasonal average and it is still possible to find some good snow to ski, except where the wind affected the snow surface.
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
