There is 20cm of fresh snow on the base from 2018 from the village up to the very top. The summits are snow-free, however, and there's a strong wind at the top - at -15 degrees. Freezy! Freeride valley run was skied, but the lower meters in the forest are tricky - danger of rock tips!

Unfortunately, overnight winds swept over the Lauchernalp from all directions, so that we found soft wind fishing, but also rock-hard ground again and again. Troughs that look promising turn out to be more of a disappointment... Exposure south is of course not very versatile for combining today.

Risks

Officially, there's finally a triple on the main ridge of the Alps and the northern snow jam has made it to us. But the snow has fallen with a good wind. In steep gullies, which are also being skied today, there are only small chutes.

Finally some fresh snow again after more than 2 weeks of drought in Valais! We needed that! My heart beats faster for a moment as I sit next to Jérémie Heitz and Sam Anthamatten in the gondola, but calms down again after the first surprisingly varied meters in the icy-cold powder. There are too many celebrities on the mountain for us and we decide to go on tour in the early afternoon after all. There, in the direction of the Lötschental/Jeizinen exit, we find solitude, untracked steep terrain and less twisted snow. Dream day!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
