Snow condition
Snow conditions are still very good. It's easy to get down into the valley and there's more than enough snow at the top (Gandegg snow station currently 500 cm), with around 20-25 cm of new snow overnight.
Snow quality
Above 2300m the fresh snow fell on a still soft base (fresh snow from Monday+Tuesday), felt really deep and resulted in 4 stars. Below that, the fresh snow slowly became heavier and lay on crust. But in contrast to the days before, it made it nice and skiable. It was fun from top to bottom
Risks
We only saw loose snow slides from sunny steep terrain, and there were also larger caliber slides from the Balmhorn east face. Apart from that, we didn't discover any other signs of danger, the fresh snow was heavy with little wind influence. However, according to the bulletin, we were also out and about in favorable exposures. We still have to watch out for sliding snow (see photo, avalanche on Wednesday).
Overall impression
Sometimes you just need a bit of luck. After two mixed days with variable snow and visibility, I would have been happy today with the fresh snow if we could have seen anything at all on the descent. I wouldn't have expected us to hit the slope in bluebird and fresh snow (and only see 2 other skiers) last night.
