Exposition
Snow condition
Snow conditions are really good above 2,500 m, even the large crevasses to the Col du Tournelon Blanc are well covered in snow. On the way down into the valley, there are more and more loose patches on the traverse of the western slope at around 2,000 m, and we had to unbuckle twice. Through the forest, it then goes well again up to 1,400 m.
Video
Snow quality
Mainly firn, not easy to time depending on the expo and size of the slopes. Partly still slab powder and below 2,400 m transition from slush to braking snow.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
Definitely keep an eye on the wet snow, a lot has already come down, especially below 2,600 m.
Overall impression
Above 2,500 m, good conditions around the Cabane-FXB-Panossière. A real recommendation for 3 to 4 days. Not too demanding high-altitude ski tours in a mega ambience with good descents and little going on, considering that we were out and about in great weather in the high season.
