Snow condition
There was around 15 cm of fresh snow in the valleys this morning. In total, the precipitation since Friday evening has brought around 50 cm of fresh snow from an altitude of around 1400 m upwards. There is also around 25 cm in the valley (thanks to forest roads this is enough). Unfortunately, the fluffy fresh snow lies on more or less loose ground and you have to reckon with foreign contact (stones etc.) at the considerable sinking depths. Open areas and hollows are also recommended in the meadow terrain to minimize the likelihood of foreign contact. On the ascent, it wasn't just the tracks that were tiring, but also the mountain pines on the path, as the fluffy snow didn't allow them to bend their knees. As the snow cover settles, the situation with "enemy contact" should improve.
Snow quality
Fantastic snow, although minimally settled compared to yesterday. Only the lack of a base put a brake on the fun.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
We couldn't see any interlayers in the fresh snow. In addition, the precipitation came without any significant wind influence. There was minimal sluff in the steeper terrain. The main danger comes from the lack of a base layer.
Overall impression
Another very fine and quiet day of touring. I'm optimistic that the situation will improve significantly as the fresh snow settles and a solid base will form for hopefully more snowfall in the near future.
