Snow condition
Winter has finally returned to the Bavarian Oberland. In the meantime, we are already enjoying 15 cm of fresh snow on a mostly almost non-existent surface. Where there is still residual snow, you can ski off-piste. But only there! Despite the high starting altitude, the options are very manageable. The fresh snow came without wind and was nice and even, so you could hardly see any terrain traps with today's poor visibility. The local hopes that he can ski lines without any major damage ;).

Snow quality
Nice cold fresh snow without wind. Super good to ride and dusty. However, a good base is usually missing and it could be more than the 15 cm. In the middle of the morning (around 10 am) the snow got heavier on the last few meters to the car. So the early start was worth it again.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
The main danger today on the Almwiese was clearly the poor snow conditions and the numerous traps. We took a look into a steeper NE gully. In the entrance there were considerable accumulations of drift snow on which the fresh snow that had fallen without wind was lying. The cornices were also quite large.
Overall impression
Now you can be happy about a little snow on a poor surface, if there is any at all. Despite the bad overall situation, it was simply nice to ski up and down in the terrain again, at least visually in wintry conditions. Hopefully it will get better over the next few days. Hope dies last.
