Snow condition
Since yesterday afternoon, around 20 cm have been added. In the lee from about 1400 m it was around 25 cm to max. 30 cm. Thanks to the sunshine, including the rise in temperature on Saturday, the snow cover was able to settle well before the current snowfall. For the first time this season, there is now a base at today's altitude where you can move around without stone skis. Even pure south-facing slopes were possible today without contact with the enemy. It's a shame that it's already the end of March.
Snow quality
Fine cold powder or sleet. We caught it perfectly today and grazed all exposures except for southeast. There was no wind influence on the descents today. Thanks to the cold temperatures, the snow didn't get heavier even in the early afternoon on the south side.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Fortunately, visibility was good from time to time, especially at the entrances (without long waiting times), so that it was possible to recognize drift snow packs and avoid them. Fortunately, the accumulations of drifting snow were generally manageable today. With a few exceptions, the precipitation today fell exclusively as sleet.
Overall impression
I had expected a lot more fresh snow and so my motivation was low at the start. But that changed on the first descent at the latest. A long and more or less very lonely day of touring with first lines almost to the car. One of the best days of the season. It should stay good until the next ray of sunshine.
