Snow condition
Yesterday and today around 20 cm - 30 cm have fallen. Ski tours are now possible to a limited extent on alpine meadows. In the direction of 1700 m, the total snow depth is around 60 cm in wind-protected areas. Some of the terrain traps are only minimally covered with snow. The whole terrain is still quite undulating.
Snow quality
The last snowfall was without wind and not in very cold temperatures. Nevertheless, it was easy to ski and the depths were suitable. There was even a little too much fresh snow for the steepness of the terrain today.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Today, the main danger clearly came from terrain traps. Due to the poor visibility, these were not necessarily easy to spot on the descent. On the ascent, the top 20 cm or so slipped slightly. This weak layer was probably caused by the higher temperatures before the snowfall and by wind. These tended to be found in exposed places. Today uncritical on the alpine meadow.
Overall impression
Nice start to the tour on the doorstep. Hopefully there will now be a base for the next snowfall, preferably soon. I wish everyone a long and injury-free season with hopefully lots of powder tours!
