Snow report Montafon, 01/04/2014
It works after all! About 20 cm of fresh snow - not the finest kind, but with local knowledge, almost perfect powder turns are possible.

Snow condition
The snow conditions are certainly still below average, but in wind-protected sectors on the shady side, the conditions are quite usable. On the sunny side, however, it is still very poor. With a good choice of exposure and line, we had a lot of fun today. Unfortunately, stone contact is still very likely, especially on the sunny side and in exposed areas.
Snow quality
Yesterday it rained up to around 1900 m and then the temperature dropped overnight with more snowfall. Up to the indicated altitude there is cold powder on a moist snow cover. Above that, mostly on a layer of hardened old snow. Small-scale drift snow packs have formed near the ridge (lee).
Risks
Above 2000 m level 3 below level 2. In general, the situation is not relaxed at the moment. A defensive choice of route is generally recommended. No self-triggering has been observed. The fresh snow lies on a moist snowpack and on a hardened or icy base as the altitude increases. The last few centimetres have fallen almost without wind and have covered many danger spots, which calls for even more defensive behavior.
Overall impression
Today, with good visibility, you could ski down long stretches on the wide rocker skis almost carefree.
