Snow condition
Massive amounts of snow throughout the Montafon, so that everything is skiable. There is 1 m of snow in the valley; on the mountain it is snowier than it has been for a long time. Last week it snowed around 170-180 cm, then last Sunday there was another 30-50 cm on top.
Snow quality
Still about 40-50 cm of loose, cold and hardly wind-affected powder from Sunday in all exposures and altitudes, from the valley to the highest stations. No wind influence up to the tree line, little wind influence up to approx. 2,200 m.
Risks
The snowpack seems to have settled well and the avalanche situation is easing. No avalanches, slides, warning signs or similar today. Nevertheless, due to the extreme amounts of fresh snow, great caution and restraint is still required, especially in snow-covered hollows and behind steep ridges. During the course of the day, winds set in with strong wind loads on higher peaks and ridges, e.g. Madrisella summit. Windless in the 2,200 - 2,300 range.
Overall impression
Absolutely brilliant top conditions in the Montafon today and certainly for the next few days, as long as the Föhn doesn't come in too strong. Deep, cold, mostly windless powder on increasingly stable snow cover. The thickest slats are needed...
In addition, there is virtually nothing going on and two handfuls of freeriders were allowed to share the whole area without stress.
