Off-piste skiing in the freeride high season
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Above approx. 1400 m there is above-average snow. Below that it is below average. Downhill runs (up to approx. 900-700m) are only possible on machine-snowed slopes. In the high mountains, the storm has blown a lot of snow away again. Between approx. 2,000-1,400 m, it has the most homogeneous snow cover for me.
Snow quality
Above the tree line, the snow is widely dull. Sometimes hard crusts can be found in exposed places. Above the tree line it is a dream. Unfortunately, the snow quickly becomes heavier below approx. 1,400 m and the amount of fresh snow is too small.
Risks
Tense in the high mountains. In the variant terrain, smaller localized slides were triggered by skiers. As soon as the forest begins, the situation is much more relaxed. Drift snow and sliding snow cracks were often covered with snow and are not recognizable.
Overall impression
20cm+ of cold fresh snow with almost no wind, acceptable weather and sub-zero temperatures make for a perfect day. We contented ourselves with off-piste skiing today. In addition to the countless "freeriders", the masses of snow sports enthusiasts without safety equipment are frightening.

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
