Snow report Montafon, 01/24/2015
Schöner winterlicher Tag im Gebirge bei Null-Betrieb im Gelände. War erstaunt, dass es mit kurzen Aufstiegen nach einer Woche noch soviel unverpurte Hänge gibt. Aber auch der zerfahrene Schnee war schattseitig fein weich.

Above 2000 m it's 2 stars for me and below that I generally tend towards 1 star. Above 2000 m there is about 1 m of snow on the shady side, which varies greatly in exposed areas. On the sunny side it is certainly less and below 1500 m there is snow from the last dump, especially on the sunny side!
Snow quality
On the shady side, there is good powder in many places, but where the wind was at work, it was hard snow - not recognizable. On the south side there is a melting snow cover. The best snow is between 2,000 and 1,500 m on the shaded side.
Risks
In my opinion, the drift snow has settled well and the layers further down were also able to bond. No signs of the LWS 3 (up to 2,500m) can be recognized and perceived. Exposed locations show the strong influence of the wind and the snow layer is also strongly influenced by it. The surface frost was clearly visible.
Overall impression
The beautiful wintry weather contributed to our well-being. Expected better powder and didn't expect the wind to have worked so hard.
