Snow report Montafon, 02/27/2015
Few descents but almost perfect powder in relaxed surroundings, although the sun had taken its time until midday.

Snow condition
On the north side and where the sun doesn't reach, there's a good layer of snow between 1500 and 2000 meters. Above 2000 m, the wind has repeatedly caused a lot of snow to fall. The south side looks very bad and descents only make sense up to 1500 m. On the north side, you can just about make it down into the valley on the tow paths. Supplies would be very nice.
Snow quality
On the north side and in areas sheltered from the wind, it was perfect snow. The approx. 20-30 cm of fresh powder was really good to ski. It would have taken a few more centimeters to cover the last of the old tracks.
Risks
Blasting was consistently successful. It was almost always only the top few centimetres that came loose, which were quite large in steep terrain. Many loose snow slides could be seen above the tree line. On the sunny side, the snow had already become board-like in the late morning up to well over 2000 m.
Overall impression
It was one of the better days in the winter mountains ;-)
