Snow report Montafon, 03/05/2016
A mighty cold front brought 20 cm of fresh, cold new snow in the valley (approx. 1,000 m) and approx. 30 cm on the mountain (up to 2,300 m). And all this with very little wind influence. The March sun destroyed the Pow on the sunny side by the afternoon and on the shady side (up to

Snow condition
The fresh snow has led to a significant improvement in the alpine region. Unfortunately, it quickly becomes very thin below 1,300 m. On the snow side, it's still good all the way down to the valley. On the sunny side, there may be a short run.
Snow quality
In high winter, this would be a 5-star day. It was the same on the north side today. Fine, cold, bottomless powder. On the sunny side, the snow was already quite heavy in the late morning. In the afternoon, the fresh snow was already well bonded in these exposures.
Risks
Above the tree line, the fresh snow was overlaid with drift snow packs. The fresh snow was bound by the sunlight and often fell off like a board in very steep terrain. Below 1,800 m and on the shaded side, the situation was more relaxed.
Overall impression
Great runs for March. Nice to see that winter (er spring) hasn't given up after all.
