Snow report Montafon, 03/16/2017
The conditions are already very late winter. On the north side it still goes up to about 1000 m and then it's time to walk ... South side is finished at about 1800 m. No people and still acceptable snow conditions. We were only on the shaded side up to max. 2300m

Snow condition
Little for the season. Still okay above 1800 in all exposures. Much better on the shaded side. Ridges are mostly snow-free. Wind-influenced terrain has a very variable snow cover.
Snow quality
Powder, hard snow, firn and slush. It's all there. Powder can be found on the north side above 2000m, but it is very fine to ski. Further down it varies between hard snow and firn. From approx. 1300 m it's all slush.
Risks
Above approx. 2200 m, some medium-sized self-releases can be seen. Especially on the north side. On the sunny side there are also more and more base avalanches. Some slopes are already unloaded. North-facing slopes (>2200 m) around approx. 40° are regularly being tracked but I personally avoid them ...
Overall impression
It was worth not going to work! Sun & snow ... What more could you want? The only way to find untracked terrain is by touring. After tomorrow's Warmront, everything will have to be rerouted again anyway ...
