Snow report Montafon, 03/28/2014
Bluebird, Powder und Kuchen. Zu unserer Überraschung fanden wir nordseitig noch einiges an unverspurten Gelände im Verwall. Den PG-Freunden hat's gefallen ;-)

Snow condition
Above 2,000 m, the snow conditions from W-N-E are still okay, but clearly below average. On the north side it is still good up to approx. 1,300 m. All in all, we are about 3-4 weeks earlier here than in a normal winter.
Snow quality
Powdery on the shady side (especially on the north side) up to approx. 1,600 m. On the sunny side, wet and sticky from early on up to well over 2,400 m. Typical spring snow conditions. Today the exposure was still decisive.
Risks
Stage 1 -> Stage 2 - actually quite relaxed. The fresh snow lies on an icy layer in many places, but the connection still seems to be surprisingly okay. The fresh snow has fallen with almost no wind and therefore little binding. The sluff was also very small. We skied north-facing slopes around 40° today and everything held perfectly.
Overall impression
Super spring touring day in the Verwall. With the warmth, the powder patches will become less and less. If it doesn't get too warm, maybe a few more firn tours will be possible ...
