Snow condition
From 1500 m I estimate that it is over 1.5-2.0 m and increasing with altitude. Above the tree line, exposed areas are partly open. On the south side, everything is about 300-400 m higher. This year it could be that ski tours are still possible in the Silvretta when the pass road opens.
Snow quality
Above 2000 m, fine powder in the morning. Below that, the snow cover is almost completely moist. The fresh snow quickly becomes heavier during the day. Below 2000 m it's over quickly despite the cold temperatures.
Risks
The snow cover has become much less firm due to the rain of the previous days. Despite the cold front, it has not improved below 2000 m. The avalanche situation is now subject to the diurnal cycle again. Many avalanche tracks, some of which are dangerous, have not yet been discharged. This will be an issue over the next few days.
Overall impression
Wintry start to April. Another beautiful day with snowfall and cold temperatures. Very good conditions, especially in the morning. From midday onwards, you can tell that spring is coming in leaps and bounds. This winter has had many great days. Now it's getting warm! But touring should still be possible for some time with normal spring temperatures, whether in the Montafon or on the Arlberg.
