Snow report Montafon, 12/04/2015

It was worse, but also much better. Narrow pistes and lots of activity. Off-piste it's a battle of equipment.

Cosmetic snow cover from approx. 1,800 m and significantly further down on the shaded side. Above approx. 2000 m it is approx. 20+ cm. Skiing off-piste is a battle of equipment and not recommended. The pistes are ok in the morning, from the early afternoon it gets bumpy, rocky and very icy.

Snow quality

1 von 5 Sterne

In many places, it is a crumbly, hard snow cover of approx. 1 cm. Above this lies approx. 1-2 cm of fine powder. Looks very tempting in places. In the afternoon it's slushy on the sunny side up to well over 2,000 m.

Risks

Above approx. 2,200 m, blown-in areas and sunny steep slopes must be assessed critically. Snow plumes on the mountain ridges also indicate new drifts today.

Nice sunny start to the season . It felt more like March than December. You don't miss anything at the moment. We used the day to test our equipment. We're still waiting for more of the white gold ...
