Overall impression
Snow condition
Unfortunately, we are right at the critical altitude where smaller rocks are covered in snow, but are waiting just below the snow cover to attack the surface. It is almost impossible to ski off-piste without hitting rocks, but the rocks are barely visible. Unfortunately, there is still a real lack of snow for comfortable touring. The official figure is 59 cm... Oh well. Descending into the valley is out of the question, our tour started from the ski area at 1,900 m altitude.
Snow quality
A very gracious 2 stars, as there were a few good sections to be found. The last snowfall was on Monday, which is unfortunately noticeable. The snow has settled heavily and is now strongly influenced by the wind. Still soft in places but rather heavy and no longer light as sugar. In the areas with strong wind influence (all exposures) there is already a lot of cover.
Risks
The snow is already well settled, but the drift snow accumulations in steep terrain pose a danger. Due to the moderate snow conditions, we were rather defensive today and not on the steep terrain. Everything was relaxed here. According to the LLB a 1, from 2000 m a 2, also with the indication of drift snow.
Overall impression
Do you have a rock ski? Is the fitness aspect of touring more important to you than a good descent? Then touring on the Nova is for you. For those who like their surface, stay in the area, follow the future slopes and wait for the next snowfall.
