Overall impression
Snow condition
We finally have an average winter again. But it still looks bad below around 1200 m. Descents into the valley are only possible with wear and tear on the equipment. Above approx. 1800 m, it's now 80-100 cm. But the rising wind is blowing everything in all directions again. The ridges are already exposed. The situation will have to be reassessed after the Föhn storm.
Snow quality
lots and lots and lots of drifting snow that was okay for skiing. In areas protected from the wind (especially in the forest) it was fine, fluffy powder. Good runs above the tree line were also possible with a bit of flair. It was dusty at every turn.
Risks
Wind, the master builder of avalanches. Seen impressively again today. Signs of wind are clearly visible everywhere. Blasting was successful throughout. Self-triggering could be seen almost everywhere behind the edges of the terrain. Cracks in the snow cover were visible on many turns. The mighty snow cornices in the terrain can also be traps.
Overall impression
Powdering all day again! The snow was only great in areas protected from the wind. The wind has raised the avalanche level to 3 and it will probably continue to rise. There's still a lot to do without tours, but there are already a lot more competitors in the terrain.
