Exposition
Snow condition
Very good for mid-December. A lot is possible. In the Bregenzerwald there is much more. Streams are open, descents were possible down into the valley.
Snow quality
It's slowed down a lot since Friday but still brutally good. Very little wind, in sheltered slopes 5*
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: strong
Altitude: 1800 m – 4800 m
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
We were on the mountain every day on Wednesday. We were able to follow the build-up of drift snow very well. Also the critical amounts of fresh snow. That's why we're not in the Bregenzerwald, where an extremely large amount of snow had already fallen on Friday. You can see the drifting snow well. Sliding snow is easy to see. Fresh snow was everywhere. The risk was easy to manage.
Avalanche activity
Dry slab avalanche (small)
Altitude: 2200 m
Overall impression
one for the books. 4 days, what felt like 15000tm of untracked terrain, which was impressive for us: EVERYTHING was ridden. Sad result, origin was in many cases abroad. It felt like everyone had been on powder for 2 years, there was no stopping them.
