Snow condition

The snow conditions are well below the long-term average. Above the tree line, the signs of snow accumulation increase with altitude. But for sensible riding you need > 0.5-1 m with little wind influence.

Snow quality

It's actually one of my favorite times of year, as the sun doesn't have enough power to harden everything quickly. Even after a week, the snow (except for steep south-facing slopes) was still fine and soft to ski in all exposures. This is fine set powder or drift snow and in many places completely built up (bindingless) transformed snow. Fine skiing today but tomorrow's weak layer after the next snowfall.

LLB: Level 2 (>2,000 m) (NW-N-NE) - Mostly favorable conditions for variants. As already mentioned, the drifts above 2,000 m are clearly visible and the drift snow has not yet fully bonded. Steep shaded gullies and the transition from a little to a lot of snow should be assessed critically locally. On steep meadow slopes (more to the south), isolated sliding snow cracks can be seen.

Overall impression

The glorious mountain weather makes up for the lack of snow for a while. If you choose your route carefully, you can still make one or two nice descents.
