Snow report Montafon, 12/13/2014
Sensible off-piste skiing is and remains a wish. At the moment, you share the narrow artificial snow slopes with 1000 others.

Snow condition
It's well below average. There is still a lot missing for a closed snow cover in off-piste terrain. On the shady side there is snow up to below 1000 m, but there is a significant amount from around 2000 m. On the south side, except for the highest peaks here in the Montafon, there is no significant amount of snow. Above 2200 m in snow-covered and blown-in areas, I might be able to make a few turns if material damage doesn't play a role.
Snow quality
settled powder, drifting snow, wind slush, melting slush and further down slush.
Risks
Hardly any snow - hardly any danger. In the high mountains near the ridges, drift snow accumulations have probably formed due to the foehn wind (the flags on the mountain peaks could be seen from afar)
Overall impression
In the early morning hours, the slopes are quite good for about 2 hours. Then the crowds destroy the slopes and some exposed areas are littered with stones. Many other things make more sense at the moment. On the south side you can still bike and hike up to over 1500 m etc.
