Snow condition

It's getting there!!! Since last week we've certainly had 30cm of snow from about 1800 meters upwards. In the forest you can already do some things up to 1900 meters. However, there are some places that still have very little snow. Above the tree line, the snow conditions are very variable due to the wind. You have extremely loaded slopes or gullies and the first cornice formations. In some cases, the snow conditions are worse on steeper sections as these have been blown away. This also applies to some ridges.

Snow quality

Sometimes we had to contend with hard snow, but this tended to occur in the areas protected from the wind. Then, above 1900 meters, there was again very nice fluffy snow, which, however, was sometimes heavily compressed by the wind. Below 1900 meters ... especially in the forest the snow became heavier and heavier but still skiable.

I would completely agree with the LLB, as we found mouths from yesterday at all altitudes and also experienced some cracks live at about 2000m on a 35 degree north-facing slope. What you should also watch out for are steeper spots in the forest, which have already gone down and look perfect when slightly sugared. From my own experience, I have to report that there is sometimes only 5cm of loose snow over meadows, which is not so much fun to ride. Today it snowed well and blew a lot... A lot of tracks were closed again straight away. It could be a bit more critical tomorrow.

Overall impression

We came with zero expectations and got great visibility and sun in the afternoon. The day was once again a lot of fun and the number of coreshots also went down... That's how it should be.
