The high altitudes of Valais are very well snowed in. Significantly above-average amounts. This is particularly noticeable on the glaciers. With appropriate caution, these can be skied on largely without fear this year.

Up to and including April 30, there was very little fresh snow in the area around the Täschhütte (hardly worth mentioning below 3000m). Only from the steepest rocky areas above 3500m were some smaller loose snow avalanches under the influence of the sun (warming in the sun!) to be observed.

Worse

Despite the changeable weather (sun, clouds, wind and snowfall alternated), we had a few beautiful days of ski touring in Valais. The abundant snow conditions made for a relaxed crevasse situation and ensured a long ski touring season this year. We were out and about in the area around the Täschhütte and spent two days alone at the hut, as all the groups had canceled due to the weather forecast. On April 30, bad weather set in as early as the afternoon: cloud formation (lower limit approx. 3500m), increasing wind in exposed areas.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
