Snow report Musala, 01/28/2026

Conditions were generally better than expected. Yesterday, around 15-20 cm of fresh snow fell here during the course of the day, with relatively little wind. On the ascent from the gondola (2000-2900m), there were nevertheless signs of drifting snow. These prompted us not to ski the gully from the summit, but to avoid the saddle (~30°). The conditions up to the ascent track were consistently good, even if you had to choose the right track. The descent across the ski area into the valley went smoothly, even if you could feel the rain from about 1800m. The avalanche risk in the upper part of the tour is likely to increase due to the forecast of fresh snow (with strong winds in places) for tomorrow.
