We set out at 1:30 p.m. In the shade, the snow was still icy, which made traversing the steep slopes during our ski tour quite challenging. But our destination wasn’t the snow—it was the Termas de Chillán, which truly blew us away. Unspoiled hot springs in the heart of nature. The red-lit descent back to the car was the icing on the cake. The snowpack had already thawed enough that you couldn’t quite call it firn anymore, but it was still far from being a swamp.
