Snow condition
There was consistent snowfall for the past week in central Hokkaido. Though this was not the biggest week for snow, there has been more farther north than down in Niseko.
Snow quality
Snow quality is very nice. Cold temperatures have kept snow very light and powdery. While it rained closer to the coast, precipitation fell as snow in the Furano area.
Risks
Strong winds from the south have loaded north faces near ridgelines. The resulting slab is consistently touchy. It releases from ski cuts and propogates around features. Exercise caution in steep start zones.
Overall impression
It was a good adventure away from the Niseko area and well worth the visit. It is snowing again in Niseko though, so conditions will be reporting from there again.
