Early Season
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Low tide on a slow start this year. Lots of bushes and bamboo still out. They make the skin tracks a bit more difficult to set, though skiing around them is alright.
Snow quality
The usual high quality, low density snow prevails. It skis bottomless and leaves you with a smile on your face.
Risks
There have been reports of funky layers mid pack. A rain and wind event last week have left some near surface facets. They are getting buried now. It is mostly sluffing though in isolated locations presents potential for larger avalanches of up to R2D2.
Overall impression
Rated low for now. Conditions are improving. There is consistent, on and off snow until New Years. The new snow will bury old layers and should be deep enough to bury most of the early season bushes and bridge over instabilities in the next few days.
