Variations of snow cover

In the Karwendel more fresh snow than expected (10-30cm, depending on the expo), on the Nordkette itself there is not enough to go far down. Summer path on the Grad partly overgrown, perhaps to be considered for the way back. Next week will certainly be better, but it was already exhausting to track today because of the amount of snow.

Hard, pressed snow
Powder snow

The wind and sun had some influence, but even where the sun did shine, there was only minimal powder. The changeable cloud cover certainly helped here today!

Risks

Diurnal warming

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Saw a few slides from the fresh snow layer on the south side, nothing else to observe. The layer underneath seemed very compact, so there shouldn't be any problems. Otherwise, pay a little attention to the sluff in the snow-covered gullies.

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne
Equal

Despite the best conditions, we didn't see 10 tracks in the Karwendel. So the anticipation for next week has grown significantly. All in all, we had better conditions than expected, 1a snow to stomp on and we were up there in an hour. Only the changeable weather (spring sunshine or directly cloudy and south föhn) and the descent towards Innsbruck were a little stressful.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
