Ski tour in the Eppzirler Alm area

Snow condition
You can ride your bike as far as the dam. This is located 5 minutes before the Eppzirler Alm. After that, the snow conditions are quite good, although descents that lead through a closed mountain pine belt at the end can be difficult. On the meadow around the Eppzirler Alm, the snow will have disappeared very soon, so you will have to ski a little further. After that, I think there will be less change in the near future. In the west of the Karwendel, it feels like there is a bit more snow than here, and these are actually high winter tours from the ski area. But when the ski area is closed and the road is clear, you can do some really nice tours here with not too long an approach. 2-3 stars.
Snow quality
Unfortunately, it really wasn't perfect firn. The snow cover was not yet well formed and the snow was also very slow. We were heading north. Nevertheless, good to ski. Will only get better over the next few days.
Risks
On the north side, the snow should now have softened in all areas of the region. With a clear night and reasonable temperatures, the conditions were favorable. We had just under 10 degrees overnight and not very dry air so unfortunately it wasn't perfect.
Overall impression
Good tour in classic Karwendel style. Summits can be climbed without any problems. You can safely leave your ice axe at home, as some other climbers do. Crampons may be necessary, but we didn't need them. To attach your skis to your bike, it's worth bringing 2 medium-length zip lines (or long ski straps). Also, mudguards on the bike are not the worst idea if you don't want to wash your ski pants at home. On the other hand, you won't have anything to talk about and your wife/girlfriend won't believe that you went on a ski tour.
