Exposition
Snow condition
Unfortunately, the snowfall over Christmas didn't bring the amounts we had hoped for and announced in the meantime. In the valley it looks nice and white and with a bit of goodwill you can even make it down via shady forest paths. Further up, the ridges are already completely dry again and there is actually too little base for steeper, stony slopes. Stone contact is almost unavoidable even on the north side. Many stones were exposed today. Pines still completely open.
Snow quality
North-facing powder snow with more or less wind influence. Quite nice to ride if there weren't so many stones lurking. The south side was already completely soaked by late morning.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Drift snow seems to have settled well due to the mild temperatures. More dangerous on the south side due to wet and sliding snow.
Overall impression
Unfortunately, the conditions in the Karwendel are rather modest. It's not really worth it until there's a lot of snow. Of course, you can also find beautiful spots, but for the most part there is just damn little snow and a high risk of stone contact.
