Snow condition
As the day went into the Rhine valley from 3 to 0 stars. 0 in the Rhine valley at 550m - see photo. Minimal sugar coating on the meadow, that's enough to get down if you know where the smooth meadow is. No idea where the radar showed all the precipitation yesterday, at least not in the Rhine Valley, or it was raining. At 1500m there was about 25cm of snow, from 2000m maybe almost 40cm. Before that, during my last visit during the week, there was an ultra-compact snow cover, maybe 15-20cm thick. Like almost everywhere, there was very little.
Snow quality
Quite nice, but far from very good. Rather compact and strangely heavy, not fluffy, rather creamy braking, probably better than the Super Pow with the small base.
Risks
The slides we saw were all shallow. That's not to say anything, but I guess it was more of a moderate three today.
Overall impression
Quite good, but still a long way from euphoria, just like yesterday. I was euphoric after Christmas/New Year's Eve. I felt - and in reality - that it had snowed intensively for several days, and not for one Saturday! And the snow quality was much better. I don't know where the euphoria ratings in the northern area come from... I give it 3 stars because I love the contrast between grass surfing and pow flow.
