...almost unbelievable, you can still ski north almost as far as the Rhine Valley, I carried my skis for a good 5-10 minutes from about 750m to the car at 550m. More than enough snow at the top.

An incredible 4 stars here too - and long after the last snowfall. In the huge, completely north-facing funnel with steeply sloping boundary walls, the sun doesn't come in even at the beginning of March - so perfectly set powder up to around 1200m, then seamless firn and later slush.

Risks

It was issued a 1, necessary for me with this line...The entrance is steep, bends from almost horizontal to more than 50 degrees, at the bottom of the funnel you are in the catchment area of the sunlit east and west steep slopes here most of the bottom should be...or it should be cold enough.

Perfect. Long at the top of the wish list. Today everything was perfect for the huge funnel above the Rhine Valley highway. Top snow, safe avalanche conditions. The entrance is not without its challenges and not for the faint-hearted. It's steep and narrow, it's not really possible to ski for a few meters, so step off, slide, then just perfect, a steep narrow couloir next to a shimmering blue icefall leads into the huge funnel. Theoretically, there are perhaps 2 more entrances possible. The scenery is incredible and so is the riding... The whole thing is probably only possible on a few days in the season... Photos 2 and 4 are from the slope "opposite".
