Snow condition
Up until last Tuesday there were easily another 50-60, then it got warm (7-8 degrees in Tromsø) and it rained away all the fresh snow and a bit more. With all the wind over the last few days, everything that wasn't bombproof was blown away further up. Nevertheless, it's still easy to ride to the sea and a good base for further snowfall!
Snow quality
Unfortunately, the snow quality was one of the worst days of the (still young) season, as
Risks
I've never seen such huge snow plumes here in Troms as today. Almost the whole of Balsfjord was covered in fog due to the snow being blown away, despite the bright sunshine! Strong storm (south) also at my summit. North-facing slopes should all be loaded. Massive cornice formation on every small edge. Now this week, due to rain and frost, the second alarming weak layer has formed or you can still see it forming. With new snowfalls and everything to do with the north, caution is advised!
Overall impression
Finally more than 3 hours of sunshine in the morning coupled with a deserted, beautiful landscape and a decent amount of snow - that's 3 stars. Unfortunately, the quality of the snow was already a lot better and by lunchtime it had already started to cover up again. Unfortunately only one photo because my cell phone was broken
