Snow condition
Once again we were out and about on Trondheim's local mountain, Ruten. Above 500m there is still a good base and powder in the northern sector. Below 200m there is almost nothing left anywhere, and even just above that you have to search. The tour was just about possible without carrying passages.
Snow quality
Below the tree line, dust on crust or not really frozen-through slush, not so great for skiing, but not really shitty either. At the top around 15cm of powder on a good base: fast, fun cruising snow.
Risks
The fresh snow came with the wind again, but there wasn't a lot of it. You have to decide for yourself whether you can cope with potentially easily triggered, but small-scale and not very thick snow slabs. We skirted the short 40° section of the summit slope (leeward, large cornices) today, others didn't - nothing happened.LBB 2
Overall impression
We skipped the longer weekend tour due to colds and opted for a shorter day trip. It turned out to be so good that we really exhausted ourselves with 3 additional ascents and almost 2000 meters of altitude in the sunshine. We were the first on the mountain to pull the first lines into the summit slope and we were also the last to find virgins on the fourth descent in the evening. Tomorrow we'll take a rest day and look forward to the steep spring season.
