[Central Norway] Tydalsnebba, turned white again, even here on the coast (200 - 1200)South-exposed sunburn tour

Snow condition
There was 5 to 30 cm of fresh snow, depending on the altitude and accumulation situation: it was already snowy on the southern slope almost up to the tree line, so fresh snow and bush slides are the order of the day. Too bad, the forest slope to Tydalsnebba would be perfect for treeskiing. From just below the tree line (400m) upwards, there was suddenly a very thick layer of old snow, which was perhaps also due to the flattening of the terrain (>>less sunlight). Northern exposures look a bit better, of course, although not by much.
Snow quality
We clearly chose the wrong tour. South-facing throughout and far too late. The beautiful powder had already settled and had also moistened on the steeper slopes, which surprised even the best skier in the group and led him to perform a spectacular tomahawk. Even the contents of the rucksack couldn't contain their excitement. Flat slopes still offered fine cruising in the middle section, followed by heavy, damp snow on bare forest floor.
Risks
Above 800m danger of snow slabs in the lee, i.e. roughly the entire eastern sector. Wet snow problem below that. According to our observations, loose snow has also come loose above 800m on pure south-facing slopes, even if not yet over a large area. Timing!
Overall impression
One red and white ski tour please... A fat sunburn and a tour in an area that was no longer possible until a few days ago due to a lack of snow; those are the positive aspects. Powder slopes were still waiting in the northern sector, so there was also a downer. Nevertheless: one 'to-do' less on the list, very beautiful area, this Todalen.
