Variations of snow cover

Winter is back ...but only above 1500 meters. Below that, it's meagre. 20 cm in the valley / zero base - 30-40 cm of powder snow on the mountain at 1800 meters, depending on the wind, and that on a hard-frozen crust of old snow. Good powder on wind-calm slopes and gullies above 1400 meters. Descents into the valley only possible with slopes or on forest paths, sometimes with stone contact.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne
Hard, pressed snow
Powder snow

Powder snow on firm to hard crust. Partly influenced by wind - above 1400 meters. Below that, 20 cm of powder without a snow base.

Risks

Crevasse or fall danger
North North-Eas

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Above 1800 meters quite tricky - wind-exposed areas drift snow! Relaxed below that. There is also a danger from snow-covered sliding snow cracks and old snow clumps

Overall impression

Equal

Only just above the tree line due to the poor visibility. Were on the way before Oberstdorf. The best music only plays from 1500 - 1700 meters in the northern expos. Nice powder day with ski buddies. There should be a few more centimetres on the way. Pictures Martin Hölle

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
