Wind, powder and track work on a new level
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
In the steep forest of the Nagelfluhkette between 900m and 1400m it works without ground contact and pillows made of tree trunks also work, I would avoid rocky drops for the time being.total snow thickness should be about 1.5 m at 900mToday another 40 cm came on top during the day
Snow quality
Somewhat damp powder below 1000m, a good hardshell pays off. Above that it gets colder and a bit fluffier, really good to ride in the steeper forest. No wind, not dry as dust, but it's fun.
Risks
In large aisles and terrain edges and probably above the tree line in drift snow. We were therefore always in the forest or on small ridges in larger clearings, as the wind was already raging. No danger signs in the forest itself. I see the 3 at the moment as a sharp one. There's just a lot of snow and I think it's still possible to travel through deep, weak layers. There's just been a brutal amount of snow
Overall impression
Incredibly snow-covered landscape. What a pity that the lifts are not open. This would have been a day for treeruns until you drop. Unfortunately, it was just one ascent and one really good descent because the tracks are so incredibly strenuous.
